Hi!
I'm a new user to linux, and I recently stumble upon wolvix while searching for a good distro for my Compaq Armada E500 (128RAM, Pentium III 600mhz, 7GB hardisc, and 8MB video card that runs midtown madness Smiley ). It runs well enough whit XP sp3 whit some performance tweaks. I tried many distro's but all including wolvix have the same problems <see below>.
First I tried booting from live CD(ubuntu, openSUSE, DSL, Puppy linx) whit no succes since my CD-rom is preaty old and wont boot well eve on DSL (it hangs/stops/goes on strike when loading the boot data or when entering GUI), but I manged to instal windows whit it without a problem. I discoverd PLOP boot manager which gave me acces to USB booting. I instaled it and and then used another computer to create a the Live USB for DSL, Puppy Linux and then Wolvix.
DSL loaded and after that it went crazy:
-right click menu or any other app would apear in about 30sec to 2-5 minutes after I clicked  the button.
Ex2: after 2-3 minutes the icons on the desktop dissapered (this happend on all distros) and the mouse right click didn't worked no more or the system stoped working.
Whit Puppy I experienced simillar situations

Now wolvix:
It was better than the 2 above but not enough:
- I cant acces the hard drive though it detects it and says that it is mounted. It responds very slow: i click on control pannel and it apears after 1 or more minutes (maybe less at the begining).
-I won't make any display configuration changes that I set.
-it shows me that 60% of memmory is used but it acts like it is full though I used the boot cheat code for 90% (same whit the video it stays the same)

I created the boot usb for Wolvix using a virtual machine on a little more advanced computer (256MB RAM) and it ran on the virtual machine in almoust the same way it runs on the laptop (a little better beacause of the big virtual memmory allocated -> 2GB).
The flash pen is big (8GB) so I can make wolvix use it for extra "RAM" but I don't know how I can do that. I didn't installed any distro on my harddrive for now because the 7 GB are filled whit important files and windows programs that I can't afford to delete right now.
So thanks for reading this and please Help!

Happy holidays!!!

MAN... looks like there are realy few active people around here.
In the mean time I realized what the problem is whit my laptop: it is not made to but live cd's or live usb's or enithing of that nature... bouth cd and usb are too slow. On other machinse works just fine and very fast.
