Correct Monitor res
«
on:

Hey,
I am new here at Wolvix, i have a 1440x900 screen and cant get the correct resolution for it. I am using the nv driver on Wolvix 2.0 beta 2.
How would i go about getting the correct screen res, it doesn't appear to have any wide screen resolutions in the drop down box in the control panel.
Thank for any help,

I have always had trouble with the nv driver and wide screen monitors. I have always downloaded the nvidia drivers and used those, which has corrected the problem every time.
This is not as straight forward as it may appear. You must down load the correct driver setup for your video card. You may also have to install some packages for the kernel. Lastly, whenever a new kernel is updated, you may have to run the setup again (which should not be a problem since you should still have the driver files and all the required packages still be on your machine)
The setup modifies your xorg, conf file with the proper settings, so next time you start X you should be in better shape.
Hope this helps.

Go to (I believe) sytem >system tools (I'm using LXDE) and click on "nvidia X server settings". It will tell you what to do. Follow the instructions. Type in the proper command in terminal. You should be good to go. You can now adjust screen resolutions using the nvidia X server settings.
