Vakkotaur & IMQ -
Thanks for your responses - I'm still thinking about this one - bit tricky as my wireless card doesn't support WPA !!

wcp-1.1.0-9.i486.2cpg.tgz uploaded.

Changes:

Fixed cosmetic bug reported by DarkVision where Full Install reports "GRUB to be installed to MBR" even when GRUB is disabled.

       - thanks, DarkVision

Fixed bug reported by Tails on the Ultima forum  where combo boxes for selecting root, home and swap partitions get 'double loaded' after running gparted.

       - thanks, Tails.

Heh heh , this maybe a "cosmetic bug " for user "in the know" , but....
for "user in the dark" it may just save them from wetting their pants ..when they thought that they had just overwritten their grub.....

Hello. I am running the latest hunter livecd. My d-link dwl-g650 airplus was detected "out of the box" by wolvix. When I launched wifi-radar, I didn't see any networks. After running "iwconfig" in a terminal, I saw my device alias was ath0. So I edited /etc/wifi-radar.conf by changing "interface = eth1" to "interface = ath0". Everything worked after that. BTW I use wep encryption and I basically only needed to enter my hex key. Thanks.

Revised version uploaded to usual place - wcp-1.1.0.9-i486-3cpg.tgz.

 Changes:

Changed grub naming of wolvix to deal with changes to /etc/wolvix-version format.

Modifed all 3 installers to disable buttons during install. Prevents closing window with installer running, leaving threads running. Also prevents starting multiple instances of installer.

Been using RC2 for a couple weeks. All has been going fine.
Been doing my updates and installs through terminal so don't know when exactly this happened. Last updated yesterday and noticed a few packages were held back.
Now when I click the launcher from the panel I get:
Failed to execute child process "gksu" (no such file or directory). It worked after first install.

Also noticed Gslapt was missing from the menu.
Put it back in manually. I'm at a loss.

This is not a WCP but, but it looks like something with gksu is wrong. Try launching the WCP directly as root: wolvix-control-panel

Perhaps reinstalling gksu will fix the problem, give it a try.

Had tried it as root and same effect.
Went to text mode and searched repos for gksu
and slapt showed it as not installed?? Don't have
a clue how that happened!! Installed it and WCP is working again.
While typing this it dawned on me that I have not tried WCP since install as I stated in previous post. The user accts.
I put in I did in terminal. Sorry I misstated.

As for the Gslapt thing its not important since I don't use it. As a matter of fact I uninstalled it.

Thanks to Wolven!!

I'm trying Wolvix Hunter 1.1.0 as a LiveCD on my laptop and I've made what I think are the needed changes:

1. Modified wifi-radar.conf to use eth0 rather than eth1

2. Modified wpa_supplicant.conf to include the network ssid and the (converted) WPA passphrase

When I try to use wifi-radar, if I don't use WPA there is no network to connect to, but the LED on the wireless card blinks so I know it is trying.  When I enable WPA (and select wext as the WPA driver [I don't need to say Dwext, do I?]) wifi-radar tries pretty much forever and the LED on the card does not blink - something is amiss.

Do I need to activate wpa_supplicant somehow?  I've tried:

# wpa_supplicant -Dwext -ieth0 -c/etc/wpa_supplicant.conf

and gotten this:

ioctl[SIOCSIWAUTH]: Operation not supported
WEXT auth param 7 value 0x1 - ioctl[SIOCSIWAUTH]: Operation not supported
WEXT auth param 4 value 0x0 - CTRL-EVENT-DISCONNECTED - Disconnect event - remove keys

...and then it seems to hang until I CONTROL-C to force a stop.

The computer is a Compaq Armada 7800 (PII-266) and the wireless card is a Cisco Aironet 350.

A bit further, but only a bit.  Adding the -Bw to the line invoking wpa_supplicant means that it doesn't throw up an error.  Using wext for that line and in wifi-radar's profile for the network and the card's LED lights up when it tries.  Unfortunately try is all it does - it still tries "forever" without actually connecting.  Out of curiousity (desparation) I tried 'madwifi' for both as well and the card's LED does not light.  So it looks like 'wext' is the right driver.  I have checked and re-checked (and re-re-checked) the PSK password, and all 63 characters are correct.

The access point is an Apple AirportExpress.

I'm a bit slow, but the latest WCP (wcp-1.1.0.11-i486-2cpg.tgz.) has been added to the repository, so it's available through slapt-get/Gslapt.

Revised version uploaded to usual place  .

Fixed some problems with GRUB installer and make boot floppy utility, along with some other minor problems.

GRUB install is now only available from live cd (rescue) as an installed system will already have a bootloader, and if not won't be accessible, whilst make boot floppy is only available in installed system.

Wolven, this one should go into the repository so users can upgrade.

Edit: Module also available of course Smiley

Woot, I've never been able to use the GRUB installer separate from the frugal installer. Whenever I would click "Install GRUB", nothing happens. As soon as this is in the repos, I'll check it out.
Thanks, Oithona!
